A new year, same old issues

Wow,

it has been a while since I have undertaken a blogging spree; that being said, I honestly misplaced all the necessary information and a lack of curriculum has had me sprinting around trying to keep up.

I hope all is well with everyone out there, and that your years be swift (till summer anyways) and that the students are quiet and engaged.

THE KID IS BACK

WOW....

what an awesome return for Mr. Griffey Jr.

I am literally so pumped to have him back in a Mariner's uniform. I am guessing that somewhere between taking that hundred million, and landing in the worst sports city in America he realized he had made a mistake. He also repeatedly said that he wanted to retire in Seattle, and that he wanted to come back as soon as he could. I for one am ecstatic at the opportunity to see the pretty swing in sports finish his career where he should....

At home!

Time heals all wounds

It was only a week and a half ago that I found out that I would not be retained by the school that has come to feel like home. Funny how time flies though; and also its propensity to make things "ok". Leah found out that she is beggining a residency at the prestigious Sacred Heart Memorial Hospital in Spokane Washington. I am fully pumped for this transition. I love the people that I have met out here in the Midwest.

That said....

Dorothy had it pegged.

There is no place like home!

PD Days

I really do not understand the appeal of professional development. I believe that our country is is a state of economic flux; wouldn't it be easiest to save a litte coin by eliminating useless gatherings of the masses that really accomplish nothing. Honestly, if we were to give quizzes and compare the retention rates from yesterdays hooplah I am going to assume that the average would have to be slightly lower then 20 percent.

I just think in this time of stretching the almighty dollar we should look to eliminate people and gatherings that turn out to be wastes of money.

Birthdays.....are OVERRATED

Due to an error in the faculty news my birthday failed to be lumped in amongst the masses of other birthdays this year. So, to correct this Jolene felt it prudent to send out an INDIVIDUALIZED notice to the entire staff making them aware of my birthday.

Awesome....

I cannot really express how indifferent I am about this day.

You are older, slower, probably a little fatter (even me), and inevitably a year closer to death....that is just science!

So why do we get all geeked up to celebrate this monotonous event?

You are not 5 anymore, so really the odds of getting a blow you away present are slim to none. And, after twenty one what is so exciting about this age? Steamrolling our way to incontinence and ED?

AWESOME......

This day is so overrated that I am going to try really hard to think of things that are MORE overrated then this day....and this list will be small I assure you!!

THINGS THAT ARE MORE OVERRATED THEN BIRTHDAYS:

-All things britney spears related (looks, music ect....)

-Teams with less then 10 wins getting into the NFL playoffs

-Tea (it is basically just a lighter sicker tasting coffee)

-diet caffeine free soda....really???brown, cancer causing water

-Splenda and all fake sweetners

-Cats

-PS3's

-being engaged.......all the nag of being married without the tax break

-Athletes that were dynamic and difference making college players that just suck in the pros...See chris wienke, ron dayne, tim couch, eric crouch, REX GROSSMAN

-Infomercials that are not action packed.......you better show me how to blend a chicken or to get gut busting abs in 35 minutes

-Light Mayo....Really......Mayo is basically fat....looks and tastes what I can only guess fat tastes like...by eating it you are basically signing on for fat...also goes for butter too.

-Snow....when it gets all crappy and brown...

-All sayings like "the early bird gets the worm"....these types of expressions are basically meant to condescend and deflate.

THAT WAS A TON OF WORK..

All more overrated then birthdays...but not by much

SE Polk

Tonight we play South East Polk High School in our last home game of the season. This is really critical for 2 reasons:

First, they are the only team in the city league to have a worse conference record then us.

Second, they lost their best scorer a couple of weeks ago to a torn ACL.

I really hope the girls can pull it together and play some stingy defense!!!

GO POLAR BEARS

A-Rod

Wow...what an athletic spectacle this has created.

The thing that I am so freakin' shocked about is that people are suprised.

Really...if you find something that can greatly enhance the likelyhood of success in your

line of work...you would go ahead and ignore it....

Face it...at the time baseball was really doing relatively little to police it. He is still a phenominal

player (though I do not really like the Yankees or anything related to them) but you cannot deny

that his image has been forever tarnished. It is ironic, this man did this to secure his spot as one

of the greatest players of all time; and now he may have created a situation in which he is in

jeapordy of missing the HOF.
